About

Hi, I'm Whitney, owner and instructor at Teal's Discovery Nook: Mind Over Math. I designed this enrichment center to be a warm and welcoming place of learning where students can explore Math elements and challenge their critical thinking skills. It is my goal to help students build self confidence and persevere through the challenges to develop problem solving skills that will stay with them for a lifetime.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can we join mid-month?

Yes, you can start classes at anytime.

  • Do you accept charter funds?

Yes, I accept charter funds from CORE Butte, Lake View, and South Sutter.

  • What can my child expect in a Math Mindset class?

Math Mindset classes are small-group learning environments where students in grades 2–9 work independently on the math concepts they need most. Throughout class, I meet one-on-one with each student to answer questions, teach concepts, provide guidance, and encourage confidence as they grow.

  • What makes Teal's Discovery Nook: Mind Over Math different?

Discovery Nook classes go beyond practicing math skills. Students learn how to approach challenges with confidence, think critically, and develop effective problem-solving strategies in a supportive small-group setting. The goal is not only to strengthen mathematical understanding but also to help students build the confidence and resilience needed to tackle new challenges independently.
